San Serif No. 5 is from the historic pattern collection that Virgin Wood Type acquired from American Wood Type. This pattern carries the maker's mark from Stephenson Blake which makes it an accurate cut of San Serif No. 5. that was first released in metal in the early 1900s.
The letter forms are a British Grotesque that include the pushed in C, to the one-sided flat counters on the lowercase b, d, p, and q, and the lovely kick out on the ampersand’s foot. It is solid and bold and expresses itself like you expect wood type to be.
